Spicy foods may help you live longer, says a new study
The title of the article overstates the results of the study it references. The rest of the article uses a more subdued tone and cautions against consuming large quantities of spicy foods. The study found an association, not causation, between spicy food consumption and reduced risk of premature death. The dietary habits were self-reported by participants and no other dietary factors were tracked. The study was also done in one culture and not reproduced in a any other country/culture. Several responses to the study point out flaws in its methodology.
