Speaking with reporters at Dover Air Force Base, Biden explained, "I’m concerned that they’re moving as much as they are, but I don’t they’re going to do anything." When asked if Pelosi’s trip was a mistake, the president said, "That was her decision."

Nancy Pelosi confirmed her visit to Taiwan in a series of tweets that read in part, "Our delegation's visit to Taiwan honors America's unwavering commitment to supporting Taiwan's vibrant Democracy...America's solidarity with the 23 million people of Taiwan is more important today than ever, as the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy." Pelosi also linked to an opinion piece she wrote for the Washington Post on why she decided to lead a Congressional delegation to Taiwan. In the piece, she discusses the Taiwan Relations Act, signed 43 years ago, which "set out America's commitment to a democratic Taiwan." During a press conference, China's foreign ministry said, "We are closely following the itinerary of Speaker Pelosi. And if the U.S. continues down the wrong path, we will take strong and resolute measures to protect our sovereignty and security interests."

Nancy Pelosi will reportedly visit Taiwan on Tuesday during her delegation tour of Asia. Though the House Speaker did not include Taiwan in her public itinerary, the Taiwanese broadcaster TVBS has reported she will arrive Tuesday evening and stay overnight. She is expected to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen the following morning and visit the Legislative Yuan. Further, Nikkei Asia reported that the U.S. is moving ships and planes closer to Taiwan "ahead of an anticipated but unconfirmed visit to the island by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi."

The heads of the FBI and the UK's MI5 appeared jointly to warn against Chinese corporate espionage and threats to cybersecurity. FBI Director Christopher Wray and MI5 Director General Ken McCallum explained the potential damage to an audience of business and academic leaders in London. They stressed that the Chinese government has a long history of hacking and stealing proprietary information. They urged business leaders to work with their agencies to protect corporate secrets and innovation from theft.

The U.S. State Department issued a statement on behalf of the 21 members of the international Media Freedom Coalition, which includes the United States and the United Kingdom, denouncing Chinese attacks on freedom of the press and suppression of independent local media in Hong Kong. "We urge Hong Kong and mainland Chinese authorities to respect freedom of the press and freedom of speech in Hong Kong," read the statement, "in line with the Basic Law and China’s obligations under the Sino-British Joint Declaration."

China and The United States have announced a bilateral climate agreement, which is intended to hold each country accountable for its actions regarding climate change. The agreement includes intentions from both sides to reduce methane and CO2 emissions among other resolutions such as establishing a Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s." The Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s is intended to facilitate more regular communication between the two largest economies.

In a joint declaration with the US, China vowed more aggressive steps on climate change. The Joint Glasgow Declaration, delivered during the COP26 climate summit, calls for "accelerated actions in the critical decade of the 2020s...to avoid catastrophic impacts."

The Sudanese ""ruling military" have relieved Sudan's ambassadors to the U.S., the E.U., China, Qatar, France, and their head of their mission in Geneva. It is understood that these have happened because those counties and organizations rejected the military regime's legitimacy.

In the first T.V. interview in years the Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen said that she was confident that the Unite States would come to Taiwan's aid in the case of aggression from the People's Republic of China. Ing-wen also confirmed that there were U.S. forces in Taiwan training Taiwanese troops.

The National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) announced it's warning U.S. companies and researchers in key high-tech sectors about the threats posed by foreign competitors, chiefly China and Russia, to American economic and national-security interests. These sectors include artificial intelligence, bioeconomy, autonomous systems, quantum, and semiconductors. Whether or not the NSCS is successful in its campaign "may determine whether America remains the world’s leading superpower or is eclipsed by strategic competitors in the next few years."

In a statement to the press, senior administration officials from the White House have detailed a few strategies for protecting American workers and negotiating trade relationships with China. "We’re prepared to act to protect American workers, farmers, producers, and businesses from unfair trade policies" said a senior administration official. The White House focused on protecting American workers by leveling the 'playing field' regarding Chinese state and non-market economic action. Part of this, noted the official, was to make investments in American technological leadership, supply chains, and infrastructure.

Four Chinese nationals have been named in an indictment alleging that, among other crime, hackers created malware, hacked into computer systems of foreign governments, companies and universities, and assisted other hackers. The “theft was focused on information that was of significant economic benefit to China’s companies and commercial sectors” and “the circumvention of lengthy resource-intensive research and development processes.”

The U.S. along with “an unprecedented group of allies and partners,” including NATO, have issued a statement “exposing and criticizing” the behavior of the People’s Republic of China. Allegations range from theft of intellectual property to “ransom demands of millions of dollars” - including the March 2021 attack on Microsoft - and implicated hackers “with a history of working for the PRC Ministry of State security.”
